Since 1983, Charm Merchant Days has been an annual
event. Each year they are held on Friday and Saturday on the second weekend of October. During the two day bargain shopping,
participating merchants offer discount prices and specials to help celebrate the occasion. Since the second year of Charm
Days, a great attraction is the drawing for a Grand Prize of $1000.00, sponsored by the merchants. The registration to win
also includes chances for prizes from each place of business. Other activities included: a two day benefit bake sale; a flea
market on Saturday; yard sales throughout the town; a school benefit including old fashioned chili and fry pies. On Friday
evenings, an old time fiddling program is held. An auction with donations of items from area residents & businesses is
held on Saturday. A Wooly Worm Derby has been getting exciting attention during the past years. On Friday afternoon,
the lower grade children of Charm School have been competing with their favorite caterpillar crawling up a string. Saturday
morning, a horse fun show is held on the south end of town. Since 1991, a pie contest has been held on Saturday and
the pies are all sold at auction after judging. All the money raised at the yearly auction is placed in the Charm Community
Share-N-Care Fund, which is the local charity helping people in need. The final attraction of the day on Saturday is
the prize drawing of all participating merchants and the announcement of the lucky winner of the $1000.00.
